Toolbox Information

Toolbox is a hosted application that members subscribe to use.
There are different tools within Toolbox, all of which require a license key.
License Keys to use Toolbox's different tools are provided with purchase of Learning-Focused materials, certain Alliance packages, or purchased directly.

Toolbox Tools and Applicable Licensing

1. Unit and Lesson Planning Tool
The Unit and Lesson Planning Tool now requires a license. All members licensed before November 17th will be automatically licensed for an additional 12 months, after which they will need to renew the license with one of the options below. Starting November 17th, new Toolbox members will get a 20-day trial period for the Unit and Lesson Planning Tool before a license key is required. This Tool allows you to Log into Toolbox to create, print, save, share, duplicate, and publish units and lessons.

Unit and Lesson Planning Tool License Options:

  • Because we want legitimate Learning-Focused teachers and administrators to be able to use Toolbox freely, almost all Learning-Focused books and flipcharts have a Unit and Lesson Planning Tool license key on the front or back cover. Simply enter the license key or keys if you have multiple books and you will be licensed for 1 or more years!
  • If you want to purchase a license key without purchasing a book or flipchart, an annual Unit and Lesson Planning Tool license can be purchased for $10.
  • If you have purchased a book or flipchart from Learning-Focused since April 2008 and it did not come with a key, there is a form under My Licenses to request a license key.
  • If you are an administrator of a school or district that has purchased many Learning-Focused materials for every teacher in the past 24 months, please let us know using the form under My Licenses and we will work with you to provide licenses for your staff.
  • If you are licensed with the Power Curriculum Tool, it automatically includes the Unit and Lesson Planning Tool.

2. Power Curriculum Tool
The Power Curriculum Tool provides schools and districts with a "complete package" of features that allow you to transform state standards into advance organizers (complete with Unit Essential Questions, Key Concepts, Lesson Essential Questions, and Key Vocabulary) units, and lessons, plus much more!

Power Curriculum Tool License Options:

  • Power Curriculum Tool licenses are initially provided during as part of the Power Curriculum workshop. The only method of initially obtaining a Power Curriculum Tool License is by participating in the workshop. Licenses are good for 12 months; therefore you must renew the licenses each year. After the initial 12 month period after the workshop, Power Curriculum Tool Licenses can be purchased for $25 each with a minimum of 25 per school or district.

3. Curriculum Editor Tool
The Curriculum Editor Tool is an exciting new tool that allows Power Curriculum administrators to customize their groups' state standards and objectives. The customization of your standards includes adding, deleting, revising, editing, duplicating, and rearranging. This powerful tool helps schools and districts tailor their curriculum to the specific needs of their group.

The Curriculum Editor Tool License Options:

  • First, you must have a Power Curriculum License.
  • Curriculum Editor Tool licenses are purchased by a school or district as part of the Power Curriculum workshop or after the Power Curriculum workshop. Curriculum Editor Tool licenses are valid for 12 months; therefore you must renew the license each year. The Curriculum Editor Tool is licensed to the school or district group in Toolbox. Only Toolbox members assigned as a group Administrator in Toolbox can use the Curriculum Editor Tool once the group is licensed. The license is $100 and can be purchased on the Learning-Focused web store or by purchase order/check.

The Learning-Focused Model Curriculum

  • The Model Curriculum is a standards driven curriculum built with the Toolbox. The Model Curriculum assists schools and districts implement standards driven Student Learning Maps and Learning Units by providing an exemplar. Currently available: English Language Arts

Toolbox System Requirements

Toolbox is a hosted web-based application which allows members to access Toolbox from virtually anywhere on virtually any computer. There are only a few technical requirements in order to use Toolbox successfully.

Available late summer 2008, Learning-Focused will have Science, Social Studies, and Math Model Curricula.

The Monitoring Tool

This tool will assist school and district administrators manage walkthroughs, 5x5's, teacher lesson and unit plans, coaching/conferencing sessions, and reflection meetings. We anticipate this tool to be available in the early fall of 2008. The license fee is not set yet, but will probably be in the neighborhood of $30 - $50 per administrator.

The Administration (beta name) Tool

Available to schools and districts starting July 2008. It will allow schools and districts to customize Toolbox, including all field names, colors, addition of school/district logo, and more. The license has not been set for this, but we anticipate it to cost approximately $150 for a school or $500 for a district.

The Benchmarker Assessment Tool

The Learning-Focused Benchmarker is a full featured testing and assessment solution that provides on-demand data.
The Benchmarker Tool allows educators to:

  • Build/upload local benchmarks
  • Create course and unit specific questions mapped to state and local standards
  • Create and manage benchmark assessments (pre and post)
  • Publish and print assessments for individuals and multiple class use
  • Assess using web-based and print solutions
  • Compare and contrast assessments (pre and post assessments/benchmarks and state results) for individuals, classes, teachers, courses, and schools
  • Identify unit and course competency for each student
  • Construct reports on student, class,grade, school,AYP subgroup, and user defined data
  • Identify and target areas that need additional time
  • Adjust curriculum at point of need, based on student performance on assessments
  • Provide coaching, assistance, and collaboration for and among teachers.
