Flexible Grouping is grouping students according to their individual needs. It is making the connections from whole group to flexible small groups. This training builds on the LEARNING-FOCUSED framework and includes Flexible Grouping structure and organization, identifying student needs, Flex Group instruction, Literacy Centers, and Learning Teams. This is the “just right” training to meet the needs of all students!

The Flexible Grouping flipchart provides teachers with the necessary resources to support how students use reading cues and strategies to become independent readers. Included with these strategies are tools for reading records and reading stages. It also includes a list of teaching points that can be use for small flexible group instruction, questioning techniques that provide ready made questions, steps in the process for literacy centers and a checklist to support the implementation.
